On this day in 1872 the editor's barbed opinion of the Woman's Suffrage Movement was clearly discernible in the following item he wrote for the Eugene Guard: "Lecture. A female woman by the name of Angelina Jane Duniway lectured at the courthouse on Thursday and Friday evenings. We infer that she is one of the strong-minded, but whence she came, wither she goes, we know and care not."
