The "Pantalet" dress made its appearance in Oregon about this time in 1915 and was considered to be the latest thing in high fashion for ladies. The dress, featuring a shortened skirt and long pantalets, was viewed as being quite daring. This caused clergymen and other "guardians of the public morality" to warn...the costume, if not suppressed, might lead to the wearing of trousers by females in public.
