On this day in 1906, a dam across Roaring River in eastern Linn County and at the location of W.T. Larwood's Mill was destroyed by dynamite. This extreme act marked the beginning of hostilities in a struggle for right-of-way over the stream for logging, lumbering and milling purposes, and was the "...first indication outsiders have received of the extent and warmth of feeling which exists among residents of the area."
