On this day in 1911 the famous Wolverine Transcontinental Autocar arrived in Portland, the sixth day after departing from San Francisco. It left Salem in the morning and took only two hours and a half to get to Oregon City and an hour more to reach Portland. The little motorcar had left Detroit, Michigan four months earlier for New York and from there returned to Detroit and continued west across the continent.
