On this day in 1787, Mary Ramsey Lemons Woods was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1853, at the age of 73, she rode a mule bareback to Oregon and settled near Hillsboro where she proceeded to live...and live...and live. She was crowned "Mother Queen of Oregon" when she was 120 years old. When she was 116 years old, she testified with amazing clarity in court. She died at home on January 1, 1908, at the age of 120 years, 7 months and 11 days; 2 years older than the United States Constitution.
