On this day in 1908 California brewers threatened to boycott Oregon Hop growers because Oregon is increasingly dry and this is crippling the beer and liquor trade. A California brewer, now visiting in this state, says the movement to refuse to buy Oregon hops and the barley will shortly be joined by eastern brewers and may even extend to England. Dissatisfaction with the attitude of Oregon farmers toward the brewery trade arose from the fact that a number of hop growing areas have voted heavily for prohibition.
