On this day in 1912 Governor O.S. West arrived in Prineville on a little mare, having averaged 30 miles a day since leaving Salem. He passed a few hours visiting with friends and left in a rainstorm at 2 o'clock for Burns. West expected to reach the ranch of Gene Roberts on Crooked River, 20 miles east of Prineville, by sundown. The governor is on his way to Boise, and at the present rate will arrive there about August 1st.
