On this day in 1923 Silverton residents Frank and Elizabeth Brazier were on vacation when they lost their pet Collie "Bobbie" in Wolcott, Indiana. A large search effort was made but with no success. Exactly six months later, on February 15, 1924, Bobbie appeared in Silverton--thin, exhausted and in pain, but alive after an incredible 3,000 mile journey. "Silverton Bobbie" as he became known, was soon featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not, played the starring role in the movie, Bobbie the Wonder Dog, had a book written about him and was investigated by psychics and clairvoyants from four continents.
