On this day in 1887 the cornerstone of a new building at the State Agricultural College was laid, on the College Farm near the City of Corvallis by the Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Oregon. Governor Pennoyer and Superintendent McElroy of the State Officers, and Judge Strahan of the Supreme Court, and large number of distinguished citizens from other parts of the state were present. The Honorable H.P. Earhart, as proxy for the Grand Master, conducted the ceremonies.
