On this day in 1844 a nameless pioneer from the Ohio River Valley made the final entry in his Oregon Trail diary: "Tuesday, Dec. 10. A beautiful day. Landed at the city in the afternoon. We have arrived exactly one year and two months from the day we left home; fourteen months and many new experiences in our lives. My diary of the eventful journey ends here."
